Raleigh Golf Association was founded in 1929. It is the oldest public golf course in the Raleigh area. The course was re-designed in 1998 by David Postlethwaite. RGA currently has 18 holes public and 9 holes that are private but are open to the public at certain times. Our league will play on the private stockholder 9 hole course. These 27 holes of golf provide unique challenges for all levels of golf experience. RGA is "walker-friendly", with minimal distances from green-to-tee. Yardage on the private course from blue tees is 2762, from the white tees it is 2657, from the red tees it is 2167. Total yardage from the Gold Tees is 2227.

League Description:

We are very excited to announce that we are moving our popular 11-15 year old Co-ed Junior League to RGA! This league is a semi-competitive league that is designed to give your young golfer their first taste of competition in a team-based format, where teamwork and camaraderie are encouraged. The league is open to all golfers ages 11 to 15 and it provides a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, enjoy the outdoors and learn the game that lasts a lifetime. The league is the perfect avenue for your junior golfer to transition from our golf camps or clinics to playing out on the course in a fun weekly league. This regulation size par 35 golf course is a great transition course for our juniors. Prior to league play each week (weeks 2-6), there will be a short instructional clinic for all league participants. The clinic will begin at 5pm and each week will focus on a different aspect of the golf game.

Details:

• Open to all girls and boys ages 11 to 15 years old
• Meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at RGA
• All golfers will play from the gold tees
• Week one will be 9-hole individual stroke play for purposes of team assignment only. Tee times will start at 5:30pm.
• Teams will consist of 3 or 4 players.
• Weeks 2 & 5 – Team Scramble (Captain’s Choice)
• Weeks 3 & 6 – Stroke Play (Own Ball)
• Weeks 4  – Texas Scramble
• Clinic (weeks 2-6) from 5pm to 5:20pm focusing on a different aspect of the golf game each week.
• Wk 2 – Putting-Green Etiquette, GASP, 1’ to 5’ putts
• Wk 3 – Putting-GASP, Lag putting, breaking putts
• Wk4 – Chipping-GASP, Chipping to within 3’ method one
• WK5 – Chipping-GASP, Chipping to within 3’ method two
• Wk6 – Pitching-GASP, ¼ Swing

League Notes:

• Golfers are expected to have prior course experience and understand the basic safety and rules & etiquette of the game.
• Each player will be playing tee to green and keeping their own score for team format.
• All golfers will play Gold tees
• Dates:  4/21 ,4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26
